I am thinking I can parlay fathers day, birthday and anniversary presents into one, namely a new depthfinder. My boat currently only has a transom mounted older Lowrance depthfinder, which isn't bad but doesn't allow me to see anything up front while fishing. I am thinking I want a new Humminbird 517DI or something like that. Problem is I know so little as to be clueless about them. BPS has them for about $250, but for another $50 or so I can move up to a GPS included black and white model. Don't know if I really care about the GPS or even if I should as I pretty know where I want to fish, just want to see whats down there from up front. Any opinions, reccomendations, etc. P.S. I would leave the old unit there, and mount the new one up front and on the trolling motor.

I know that you have lots of brush piles committed to memory but that like everything else, too shall pass. With the gps up front you can mark stuff that you already know and find lots of other stuff to mark. It will really come in handy when you are hunting for those elusive specs. You'll be able to down load all of the mdc stuff that you have helped plant over the years.

For my own personal use down imaging is the best thing to come along in quite a while. You can actually see fish and tell which way they are looking.

That GPS feature is nice, especially on a lake like Table Rock where the water levels fluctuate so much. I marked some stuff at low water this winter that I'd never be able to find now with the water high.

You're welcome. I also have 6 or several hundred wpts on your little pond that I'd maybe pass on to you if you want them.

I appreciate that! Lets see if I actually get a new depthfinder with GPS, still a LOT of negotiating to be done yet.
