About swivels...the high quality ball bearing ones are nice, but not necessary to a twin spin. I've always used the cheaper ones...not the very cheapest, but not ball bearing ones. The crane swivels from Barlows are good enough for me...never have problems with the spinners spinning.

Wayne's suggestion to get the twin spin components from Barlows is okay, but I don't like the length of wire from the head to where the arms come out. I want a Shannon type that's more compact.

Understand, too, that the way I fish a twin spin is nearly always fast-moving and just under the surface. If I'm fishing slower and deeper, I'll use an ordinary tandem spin or single spin. The twin spin is my go-to spinnerbait for warm weather and clear water, the clearer the better. When it's murky, if I'm fishing the twin spin it will be the bigger version in black. So Wayne...it isn't a choice between jigs and twin spins :)

Actually, I've toyed with the idea of making twin spins to fish on the drop, which would have rotating arms. Back in the old days, you could get Shannons that had rotating arms. Here are a couple of photos of one of my antique Shannons, showing how the arms flip up and down. The inscription on the blade says "Shannon Persuader".post-218-0-42521500-1370989693.jpgpost-218-0-63479600-1370989709.jpg
