dtrs5kprs Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 As current as we can be around 13... Ned rig is still working from bank to 20'. Flat places. Fin is fine, especially with clouds and early. We have fished it well off the bank as Bill has described, out to 60' under the boat, and up on the banks. What has been working for us is holding the boat in 20-25' where we can throw the Ned at the bank, and run the fin out the other side at chasers. Today we had several solid keepers on shakey heads with the wind. All in about 22'. Brown water is getting here, not sure it has helped so far. Maybe in a day or two, and if COE lets the water stabilize. And we had a mudpuppy sighting. Little booger swam up to the top, swam along a bit then headed down. A first for me, and for my amphibian obsessed daughter.
fishingaddiction Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 What kind of visibility is the main lake water around K city? Are you calling a salamander/water dog a mudpuppy? I lived in Texas for the first 10 years of my life, and we called them water dogs. Based on your report sounds like Fin early, Ned Rig, and shaky head. Fish must be working there way to deeper water as the water temps rise. Thanks for the report Dave, as I haven't fished in a couple of weeks. Will be heading over to TR this weekend fishing out of Mill Creek. Hope your having fun on your vacation. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
abkeenan Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Dave, Give the jika a go at all? Or are they on the ned rig too good where why mess with it?

TW is off the menu with this sun, other than throwing at individual chasers. Color is not helping. We went down towards little cow late this morning, color was better but not clear. Really think they are starting deep with some still shallow. Can also catch some before 6am on a black Spinnerbait.

You know neither of those work. 1/4 oz jika and a shakey worm should be fine. Seem to either want the little rig or a big worm on a shakey. FB and dragging a tube should get going.

Keep the fin handy for those that show themselves early. Hopefully the color will get down the lake, and clear up. 8" is a big salamander, maybe a lizard would work. Thanks for the info. How long are you staying at the Rock? Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
dtrs5kprs Posted June 12, 2013 Author Posted June 12, 2013 We have another three days to fish. Fooled around in Springfield today. It would indeed be a big mouthful for a bass. Only place I had previously seen one was in a tank at the trout hatchery. Was neat to see the wild critter.
