Quillback Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 I threw a Jika for a bit later this morning, saw bream back in the buck brush, so decided to try a Jika with a Beaver (in this case a Missile Baits Da Bomb). Hooked 3 bass on it, didn't get a one in the boat, but they are there in the brush. And they're out deep - take your pick.
Guest Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 It's a drop shot with a very short leash. I like really small swim baits, biffle bug jr, finesse worms, etc
Biglerma Posted June 15, 2013 Author Posted June 15, 2013 Fished the Jika for an hour. Didn't get bit. Boat in 35-40 throwing at the points. Switched to the drop shot and found them easily. 20-30 ft down.
Members dudley02 Posted June 15, 2013 Members Posted June 15, 2013 True drop shot works, I got my first drop shot fish today. however quickly turn to draggin a 1/2 oz football with a hula grub. I wouldn't be afraid of a hula on a jika, but I am not ordinary when it comes to throwing my plastics. I did not slay them today only fished fo 4 hours had 8 decent fish 7 lm 1 k. 2 in bushes 1 pn drop shot and 5 dragging 20' plus. Just one more weighting system on the market shoot i use weighted swimbait hooks for trick worms and craws works great. My point experiment and you always have goto stuff if it doesn't work.
Sore Thumbs Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Been having good luck on 4 inch zoom lizards in watermelon candy(at Beaver).
Champ188 Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Phil, Have been using full size Beavers on a 75/0 hook and slaying the big girls on them. Not easy to skip docks with but they go right through wood no problems. Throwing them on 320# Power Pro on extra heavy deep sea gear. Might be able to get by on Lake Trout gear if you just are using the yearling beavers. Paddle tail has great action on them. A steel leader isn't a bad idea either cause they have a tendency to want to gnaw through the braid. That's world class humor right thar.
