Al Agnew Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I believe the second frog in post number 30 is a wood frog, which is really cool because they are a threatened species in Missouri.
E Green Posted September 13, 2013 Author Posted September 13, 2013 thanks for that info Al Agnew...that is cool to know. I have a complete MO herp guide from MO dept of Conservation but often I can't ID what I am holding/seeing.

E Green Posted September 16, 2013 Author Posted September 16, 2013 continued....the very last picture in this post is of a Cottonmouth that was way too close to me on the creek behind my home. I was wade fishing and this guy came out of some weeds about 3 feet to the right of me and it pretty much held her ground and even raised 2/3 of its body straight up out of the water. It was amazing and a bit scary at the same time. It had either a frog or a fish in its mouth so mabe that is why this one acted a bit more territorial and didn't race off like they always have done on every other encounter on this stream. I did the best I could, got a few terrible pics and then went the opposite way,,haha this was a perfect opportunity to get some great pics of a water moc in action, esp when it "stood up" in the water but it wasn't worth the risk....maybe I will get some better shots in a safer situation next time.
