Members creekfreak Posted July 14, 2013 Members Posted July 14, 2013 A friend and I were fishing this weekend and pulled out this nice largemouth (near 7lbs/near 23"). The fish was released shortly after we got enough pictures and video. We beleive in catch and release on the Elk and its tributaries, as we know enough fish are pulled out of these waters (both legally and illegally) that we hope others get the chance to experience this thrill as well! We've fished these waters for many many years, and to date, this is the biggest largemouth we've landed. What a day! Tight Lines, Creekfreak
Greasy B Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Great fish! Thanks for the picture and your angling ethics. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974

ollie Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 great catch & release! 23" is a real nice fish on the river. "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
MOsmallies Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Awesome fish, especially for a river! What'd she hit?
Wayne SW/MO Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I always wonder if fish like that actually grow to that size in the river, or are washed over a pond dam during unusually high water? It always seems questionable to me that in the time it would take to grow that size that someone wouldn't get the opportunity to put a knife to it. Beautiful fish and I hope someone else gets a chance to put her in an album and send her on her way. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members creekfreak Posted July 15, 2013 Author Members Posted July 15, 2013 She hit a finesse worm on a shaky head jig.
Quillback Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Hey Creekfreak - was that you holding the 7 lb. LM caught in the Elk in the sports section of the Benton County newspaper? I'm thinking it must have been you as I wouldn't think there are too many 7 lbers coming out of the Elk. If so, congrats again!
