Quillback Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Fished Sardis lake in Mississippi this Tuesday and Wednesday mornings with my uncle. The target was crappie and our method was trolling Bandit 300's. We did fair, 10 keeper crappie Tuesday morning, and 16 on Wednesday. The minimum length to keep is 11" this year on Sardis, but our average size was good with many of the fish in the 13-14" range, only had a few that needed to be measured to see if they hit the keeper mark.
jdmidwest Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 You need to hit them early in April when the spawn is on. I have a couple of friends that go down there in April each year and fill the coolers with pigs. They like the spider rigs. I have never been a crappie fisherman, but I will take them if they are biting. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Quillback Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 We talk about doing a spring trip to Sardis, but timing the whole thing is always a challenge. We caught enough fish in the 2 mornings we fished, plenty for a couple of fish fries, and cleaning fish is no fun on a hot day.
