Members plexlove Posted July 18, 2013 Members Posted July 18, 2013 Hi, so me and my family are planning to come up there to camp (tent) but I cannot seem to find ANY campsites on the lake at all! I have never seen anything like this lol....i came up there about a year ago to blue cat fish and spent about 4 hrs just trying to find a spot to fish because it was all privately owned land. So anyways, what we are looking for is a nice, normal style campground and it has to be right on the lake. Would prefer something close to the dam but the only thing im finding is the dam bait shop campgrounds and that wont work. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Members BHowe Posted July 18, 2013 Members Posted July 18, 2013 There's a nice campground just below the dam on the Osage River, right where 54 crosses. If not there, the State Park out on Hwy 42 is pretty nice

Members plexlove Posted July 18, 2013 Author Members Posted July 18, 2013 Yeah that wont work, we need right on the lake....the women have to be on the water or they will freak out lol. But i checked out the state park one and i think that will work, it looks pretty nice and its right on the lake. Thanks
Wayne SW/MO Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Did you check the state park? They generally have openings and they are reserveable. http://www.icampmo.com/SearchPark.aspx Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
fishinwrench Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Yeah the actual "camping" alternatives on this pond are pretty sad. It's a shame really. If I had a million bucks to play with I'd set up a few primitive campgrounds in select areas.

Members crittermo Posted July 18, 2013 Members Posted July 18, 2013 there is a campground at the 4MM of the main channel. is it right on the lake (in the very back of the old "hawaiian island" cove). it is off of lake road W-12. sorry, i forget the name of it. good luck!

More like a defunct trailer park..... but yeah I suppose you could pitch a tent there. Jackson branch has been one of the most problematic "water quality" areas since the testing began. Not that that truly means anything, but still...
shaker Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 plexlove, move up to Truman Lake lots of campgrounds and I'm sure that the water is fresher too! RB
