How far up from lead mine, or how far down from oldhams is Blue Spring? How's the fishing around that area, or has anyone fished that area?

...its pretty much half way between Id say...to far down the river for me to fish...Id think fishing would be ok, but I don't fish below Prosperine...

A strike indicator is just a bobber...

It's horrible!!! don't bother fishing it or trying to float it... The accesses are bad and there are NO fish in that area!!!!

If you have access/permission to put in there, PM me and I will give you plenty of details on that section of river. I have permission to put in across the river but not at Blue Spring, I grew up floating and working there (when the Reagan's owned it) and now I can't.... I get it (now private), and would love to help, if that will get me access!!!!

I have a friend that grew up there and knows some people around there and he has permission to put in around that area. He said that there used to be lots of rainbows and browns that held in that area, but that was years ago. Before he told me about it, I was unaware of that spring. It makes sense that there would be trout there (and other fish)... It is a spring after all... And in winter it would make sense that the trout would migrate around the river a bit... I could be totally wrong and this is just my opinion.

This year, I have fished that area, from about two miles above the spring and a mile below and caught a bunch of trout (all while smallie fishing) mostly on white jerk baits. Typically they are "gone" by June, I assume move back up to cooler water. There used to be a nice bunch of big brown's that hung out around the spring but then a couple of guys from KC came down and literally cleaned them out... That was about 15 years ago and I haven't caught a brown in that area since. I really haven't caught any trout right in the area of the spring.

Anyway, good luck, are your buddies initials MH?

No. They're LR. With these cool days, I hope to still catch trout down that way... Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2

As I pull in with my boat and fishing gear. That wouldn't look obvious at all! :P

Let's hope the new owners are good stewards of the land.
