J-Doc Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Saw Allison on the news this afternoon and they are still bringing in volunteer dive teams and won't stop searching until they run out of dive teams. So he was missing around Starkey Island. I know why he's hard to find now. They had 3-4 boats out there today and will be searching till dark. Poor guy......I hope they find him for this family's sake. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. kjackson Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 They've given up the search and called the dive teams off. I wish he would surface for the family's sake, but sounds like it might not happen. What surprises me is that the water is so "murky" that the divers couldn't see in 50 feet of water and had to search by feel. Of course, with this morning's rain and runoff, I would not be surprised if the entire lake turns brown.
Stump bumper Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 The bacteria should be enough to bloat this guy up to the top by now, so be on the look out for what you are running over.... Call it in if you find him, don't try to pull the body into your boat.
J-Doc Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 There's a gross thought but I hear ya. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Hojo Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 I had a best friend drown on Bull Shoals 3 yrs ago. The search team told us that usually a body will surface in around 3-4 days. Really makes you wonder if he got hung up on something. Weight belt could be causing issues as well.

Really makes you wonder if he got hung up on something. Weight belt could be causing issues as well. The bloating should overcome the weight belt then the wave action should free the body, this is a gross subject but that is how it normally happens. They had body lost a few years ago around the nursery pond that showed up at horseshoe bend and I heard it had been hit by at least 10 boats. I really wonder how tangled up you can get in a ceder try that has been under water for 50 years, would have to be an old catfish line involved to really hold a body that well. We may never know.

It is the cove on Starkey Island that faces the Dam Site Park and the water intake. They are almost positive they have marked him an sonar and the dogs that were brought in marked the same place. The problem is it is the heaviest cover in the whole cove. The divers can't see down there, the trees are so thick, there are old trot lines and all kinds or fishing lures. It made for a dangerous situation for the divers. Some of the divers got snagged by hooks down there. My partner heads up the Search and Rescue. She said they were all very frustrated because they knew where he was they just couldn't get to him. It is a sad situation and I feel for the wife and kid. Becky B
JohnF52 Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Maybe a big boat with a crane like used in dock repair or boat recovery could be brought in and winch up the whole tangled mess.
J-Doc Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Wife and kid?????? Oh feel terrible now. For the wife and kid that is. Sounds like they definitely found him and discovered what happened. This is terrible. People that set out trot lines need to remove them when done. It makes the rest of us look bad. I've snagged quite a few over the years but from a boat. Poor guy was doing what he enjoyed and someone's ignorance/neglect cost him his life. It was an accident but still..... Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message.
