Ham Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I think I got mine in 2003, but who knows. I had it a while before I moved up in Aug 2007. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 It is definitely heavier than the sit in, but so far manageable. That may change when I go somewhere I have to carry it more than 20 or 30 feet though! If you have after market racks they made extensions for them that helped it getting them on top. I don't think they make them anymore however. I use a cart that breaks down and can go in dry storage. In use it has uprights that go in the scuppers. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
ScottK Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 I've been hauling it in my Volkswagen, but I have to pull the passenger seat out for it to fit inside. I will look into something like that to get it up top so I'll have room for people in the bus. For short jaunts to the river here for the day I will just use the pickup. Thanks!
ScottK Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Is this the cart you have? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sit-On-Top-Kayak-Canoe-Pup-Boat-Scupper-Cart-Dolly-Carrier-Trolley-10-Wheels-/380693168874
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 This one is very similar to what I have, the principle is the same. This is the company that supplied my tarpon and the cart. http://www.paddleva.com/Accessories-Transport-Storage-Carts/APP01482-Xpress-Scupper-Cart-with-No-flat-tires Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
On The Fly 6 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 The SOT are also easier to get in and out of if you have long legs (I'm 6'4) so that was one of the appeals for me. I have a Pelican Castaway 116 and it's a solid boat, but they make nothing in the way of aftermarket seats. I've done numerous 2-3 day floats on it but it kills my lower lumbar and rear end. I'm in the market for a new one, but it may be awhile. Nice boat btw! One way to get around some of that is to wear a back brace, the ones designed for lifting support, and an air cushion under. I have both and they make a big difference on a long float, even with the Phase 3. The air cushion I have is made for kayaks, but I don't have the brand at hand. Kee sims Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 ScottK you will love I've had mine in the camo color for about a month now and have had it on a couple decent 5-8 hour day fishing trips and so far it rocks. I haven't had my canoe out since! I added a milk crate and mounted rod holder to the milk crate works well for holding extra rod and tackle. Boat seems to do pretty well definately happy so far. Hope you like your as much as we do ours!
ScottK Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 So YOU'RE the one that got there before me and got the last camo one. I had called omtc a couple of weeks before I finnally made it down there, and was planning on getting the camo color but I showed up too late... That's alright though, I'll just plaster stickers all over it to tone it down a bit. I do like mine pretty well, can't get it in the water right now of course. I am very interested in getting one of those carts that Wayne was talking about too. Yeah, my canoe is doomed to stay on the rack now I think, unless We have a family float trip and then somebody will use it. Sure like a kayak for solo trips!
woodman Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Another Tupperware oil based byproduct which has turned the creativity of the homebuilder-craftsman into extinction.... The 50's and 60's were full of boat builders in the USA...... http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
