Hog Wally Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 What did we get this time? 3 weeks between flooded water conditions. I throw in the towel and work on deer stands and food plots.
Seth Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 That's the same way I'm feeling right now also. Got plenty of things to do in the deer woods to keep me occupied until the rivers aren't a mess.
mic Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Kids are in school and hunters in the stands... great time to be on the water. That said, don't forget me when the deer jerky is ready
Hog Wally Posted August 16, 2013 Author Posted August 16, 2013 Okay so the river still looks like crap!! Maybe run up till it gets clean. 35 miles up maybe. Worst fishing summer I've seen in years. Hopefully it stays dirty all gigging season.

Seth Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Id be one sad panda if I could t go stick a bunch of suckers this fall!
ozark trout fisher Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Like everyone the weather messed with my fishing this summer but if possible, I'm gonna try to to make up for it with plenty of fall/winter/spring trout fishing, not to mention deer season which is coming soon enough. I can't wait honestly. My usual float-fishing for smallies was almost a total loss for me so far, but you can't win 'em all. I have a little creek in mind to try this weekend which could make me feel a bit better about that. With the huge exception of the horrible flooding in the past few weeks..... frankly I'm glad we were spared a typical Missouri summer for once. It even briefly quelled my annual summer desire to run off to Montana. The summer of 2012 was brutal. Whatever else this year was, it sure wasn't a repeat of that.
Hog Wally Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 I am almost out of fishing time! Dove season then bow season. Only unusually warm weather that hinders hunting will get me back on water. Sunset hills big meeting tomorrow night to legalize bow hunting. Watch the news. Might see me giving my speech on why bow hunting instead of sharpshooters
Seth Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Ive vowed to try amd fish some this fall. Im sure I miss out some really good fishing but it is awful hard to get me to put down the bow and arrow long enough to pick up the rod and reel.
Flyguide7 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Fall is my favorite time to fish. I enjoy hunting , but catching nice smallies and walleyes on the Meramec amid cool temperatures and blazing fall colors cannot be beat! Besides my place in wildwood is overun with %!#! poachers. Chasing them off is a full time job. Ruins the whole experience of hunting anymore.
