Members pbrussell Posted August 8, 2013 Members Posted August 8, 2013 Heading to table rock next week, but water is two feet above normal pool and rising. More rain looks like a certainty as well. I'll be launching around indian point. I'm already a little concerned about the possibility of floating debris. How high is too high on this lake? How concerned should I be about said debris? If I can be certain I'm not gonna be hitting any logs with my new boat, it sounds like it could end up being a find and flip the bushes bite. Looking for any words of wisdom you guys can give me regarding this situation (mostly concerning safety). Thanks.
denjac Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Nothing is too high on this lake. Yes you might have to Dodge some debris, but wouldn't freat about it. Perfect bush water right now. If you stay mid lake the debris will be lite but be sure to be on the look out for the unsuspecting low floating logs they are hard on lower units. The rivers like upper James, White and large creeks can have floating trash, logs and etc in them. Just be on the lookout and you will have a great time.

Nitroman Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 If someone told you we are 2 feet high ( OVER NORMAL POOL ) there math is off by 3 feet. The lake is currently @ 920.7 NORMAL POOL IS: 915.0 So we are 5 feet + over normal pool ( & RISING ) not 2 feet over. The lake has risen ( & CONTINUES TO ) around 4 feet in the last few days. Members Tommy Neil Posted August 9, 2013 Members Posted August 9, 2013 I would love to be able to fish the Rock when the water is rising. I would go to the back of any creek, as far back as I could get the boat and fish the incoming water. My personal best limits of bass came in rising water. I fished jig and frog those times.
Billfo Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Too much water is not an issue. In 2011 I believe the water got up to 936' and I was catching Bass in my cedar trees ( that USE to be in my yard).. advise ? I would NOT get up on plane if I were you ! You should still have plently of early fun where the rocks meet the bushes !!! Let us know how you made out !!! Champ188 Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Floating debris will be a very minor concern in the Indian Point (lower lake) area. Come on down, go fishing and flip some fish out of the bushes. Chances are you'll find both LM and SM in them. Flip a green pumpkin or watermelon candy tube or Sweet Beaver in there and hang on. Jig will work, too, although you may have a few more hang-up problems with it. Contrary to what you may have read on this forum, Table Rock's banks serve other purposes than just holding the water in.
