LostMyWife Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Just curious, but happens if it does not get colder and the lake does not turn over. OK, I am wathing the History channel right now, "Last Days on Earth" The number one threat is climate instability. The weather is getting to warm. The ice caps are melting and the waterlevels are rising. But right now it is way too warm for this time of the year. Have we ever had a year were Table Rock did not turnover? Would it be a problem? I assume lakes in the south do not turn. Yes, I'm That Guy

That's an interesting question LMW. I do know that lakes and farm ponds in south Oklahoma and north Texas do turn over, but it seems like it was always late Feb. or March before it happened. We do need some good cold weather, but I sure hope it holds off until next Tuesday! My waders are still leaking and I just spent all my wader savings on a new vest. Â Â
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 27, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted December 27, 2006 Even during the warmest winters in recent history, the temps in December were cold enough to turn Table Rock. It's been cold but not cold enough this year- so far. I think the cold nights will eventually turn the lake. Silting in the hatchery lines is a good sign the turn is very close.
perchjerker Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Thanks for the bevy of information on D.O. i was wandering it's effects has on Taney but did'nt know what numbers we good or bad.I can use all the education I can find because I fish there so much. Thanks Again Perchjerker...
Rusty Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Something I noticed was, the D.O. is higher 17 miles down lake than it is by the dam. Can anyone explain this?
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 30, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted December 30, 2006 17 miles... depends on where the gage is. If it's high in the water column then it's surface water and it always is going to be the highest- wind and sun.
LostMyWife Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 What's the latest. Will the forthcoming cold swooping in from the north be the ticket to turn TRL? What exactly does TRL turning do to Taney? What do you look for? After it turns, how long will it take for the fishing at Taney to return to normal? LMW Yes, I'm That Guy
Bill Butts Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Guys~ Anyone happen to see this report from Christmas Day? It is from the BransonCourier.com site. Dissolved Oxygen Up and Midges are a hard combination to beat by Gary Groman aka The Ole Seagull published: Dec 25, 2006 Since Table Rock turned over and the dissolved oxygen levels have increased the fishing, numbers wise, has been nothing short of spectacular. On Dec. 16, using a size 18 zebra Copper Dun I caught about 15 Rainbows in an hour and easily missed that many. Size wasn’t great but the numbers and fun was. All the guides out of the shop are doing great. Also played around with a 1/32 Brown Marabou Jig and caught a few on it. I used 6x Orvis Mirage Tippet and had the indicator set at about two feet. I was fishing from about 4 feet of water out into six feet. I guess I am now wondering what is going on. I fished the 28th and it sure did not seem like the fish were very energetic. Can't find my link for the TR Tailwater data. Bill Bill Butts Springfield MO "So many fish, so little time"
LostMyWife Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 What is the update on TRL? Has it turned? Yes, I'm That Guy
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 28, 2007 Author Root Admin Posted January 28, 2007 Yes- it turned 3-4 weeks ago. No problems.
