Chief Grey Bear Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Well, not quite. Ollie does host a get together every year on the SUNDAY, my bad in the original post, after Thanksgiving. I started calling it Olliefest years ago and it just kinda stuck. It is a great way for those of this forum to meet, eat, fish, and swap stories. Big Brown Trout Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 oh lol I see sounds cool though, how do you guys know the stocking schedule? I've been trying to figure it out for months now. Let the summer of Carp, begin.
Buzz Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 The stocking schedule is not something that is set in stone. We really don't know unless we go, that's the bad part about it. Neosho is catch and release from Nov. thru the end of Feb. Capps is still put and take and they get taken pretty quick. I can't remember the last time I was even close to a stocking. Late October or early November will be the first, after that who knows except the locals. The Sunday after Thanksgiving is when we meet up for Olliefest. You and anyone else is welcome to join us. I think this will be the 6th year we've done it. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Big Brown Trout Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 cool thanks, should be fun to fish Capps when there is actually some fish in it. Let the summer of Carp, begin.
Krazo Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Have you ever caught any browns in capps? I thought mdc stocked them occasionally, once a year or so. any big (3lbs+) bows or browns in capps? ive been twice and caught some stockers in late march but thats it.
Members Tommy Neil Posted August 23, 2013 Members Posted August 23, 2013 A friend caught a 8 lb brown below jolly mill in the spring. I saw the picture of it and it was nice
ollie Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 You mean like this one? "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Krazo Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Surely those aren't stocked right? It's been a while since I've been to that area but I don't recall many holes that appeared large enough for a fish of that size to spend a summer but I guess I'm wrong about that. That's encouraging to see. How far above jolly mill have you found trout & how far below the lower parking lot of that area do you find trout? I've really only fished between jolly mill & the confluence of Capps & a creek that joins below the lower parking lot.
ollie Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 You need to get out more and explore! "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Krazo Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Sorry for asking a question. Thanks for the help.
