Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 1, 2006 Root Admin Posted December 1, 2006 Boated to the dam. Still running 3-4 units at about 6 feet high (707). Water was murky which is good sign. It starts getting silty when the lake starts to mix (Table Rock). Made 2 drifts to KOA. Threw 1/8th oz jigs and varied the colors. First white. Caught 4 rainbows all above outlet #3. Broke it off and tied on a brown jig. Caught 4 more rainbows and one brown. Boated back up and tied on a olive/sculpin mix jig. Caught 6 rainbows and 1 brown on last drift. All between 11 and 14 inches. Fought hard which is good sign. Took these pics for you to enjoy. Where the water was this morning- very high. Osprey near dam. Chuck Gries with a client. He was hooking fish on every cast. Me and dad working- see I do work!
snagged in outlet 3 Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Nice!!!!!! Thanks Phil. I'm watching the kids sled down the hill outside my office window. SIO3.
Tightline Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Nice pictures! I never use to see Ospreys but they are fairly common sight anymore. Phil, you did pretty good on jigs in that fast moving water.Since you suggested that they (Trout) think they are chasing Sculpin when you work them a certain way I've made me up some Sculpin colored jigs. They have a little more(material) than your regular jig, can't wait to get down there and try em. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 2, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted December 2, 2006 Who knows what they think. But a jig first has alot of action and movement, even if they're just drifting in the current. I've watched trout follow-follow-follow and then make their move as the jig action is paused and the jig is dropping- that's when they hit a jig 90% of the time... when it dropping. They can't stand not to taste it. But when there's shad in the water, is doesn't matter. They will take a white jig with aggression.

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 4, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted December 4, 2006 December - April with the best chance in January-February. We need cold temps and running water. Haven't had enough of either the past 3-4 years to have any significant kill.
loo10 Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Thanks Phil for the pictures. Have you heard, is the Cooper Creek ramp cleared off? Rich Looten Springfield, Missouri "If people don't occasionally walk away from you shaking their heads, you're doing something wrong."- John Gierach
