Bird Watcher Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 long answer is I've tried it and could get it to power on, but couldn't get the display to work.

kjackson Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I think you can buy extensions to cables, but Bird Watcher is right. Can't be done unless the factory can or will.
Nitroman Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I have done it in the past & whether it was skill or dumb luck it worked. As the cable is very similar to shielded TV CABLE you may want to see if RADIO SHACK has a cable splice available. The biggest problems are making sure that the outer shield completely surrounds and protects the core or you will have a great deal of electrical interference show up on your screen, and if it is in an area where it can get wet the connection must be weather-proof. Each time I had this type of problem the break was open to the elements and had to be weather-proof so by the time I finished the repair it was big & ugly but, it worked & got me through the trips, then after the trips I replaced the cable as it was just to ugly to look at. Had I had an actual cable splice maybe the repairs would have been pretty enough to leave alone. Rock View Resort Table Rock Lake Greg Pope, Owner/Operator & Fishing Guide

I can't dance like I used to.
fishinwrench Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Have spliced many of them, never a problem. It's just coax that may or may not have a temp sender wire in the harness, nothing mysterious.
