Members Rustynuts Posted August 28, 2013 Members Posted August 28, 2013 I will be in eastern Oklahoma for the weekend and will have to pass close to the Elk Monday on the way home, This river has long been on my list of must float rivers. Do you folks think Monday will be too crowded or an otherwise un family friendly atmosphere? What section would you recommend? We will have two vehicles to self shuttle or could use an outfitter for parking. Any help at this late hour would be great.
Feathers and Fins Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Launch in Noel float to Cowskin and enjoy the sights and sounds. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
1969Larson Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 I'm sure it will be busy, but I've caught some nice fish there... even in crowds.
Members Rustynuts Posted August 28, 2013 Author Members Posted August 28, 2013 Noel launch , would that be River Ranch ? And I see a dam ,Is that hard to get around?
Members bobtu Posted August 28, 2013 Members Posted August 28, 2013 The crazies will mostly be gone on Monday. I would not, however, want to be on the river on Saturday or Sunday.
bfishn Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 I must be getting old. There was a time you couldn't keep me away from Shadow Lake & Joses on Labor Day. Used to launch a 12' john w/trolling motor in the Lake and go upstream at 4PM, what a hoot. Docked at the bar at dusk and partied till they closed, then a late night excursion cruise with my catch. The Elk hasn't become an immoral den of drunkards, it's always been that way. I can't dance like I used to.
ollie Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 you got that right bfishn, when I was younger back in the days that was still the premier party spot! lol Rustynuts, if you go in the afternoon on then you should be ok. Most will be packing up and going home by Monday afternoon. The really wild stuff should be going on during the weekend. It will empty out by Monday evening for sure. Guest Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 You should go, those fish are biting and they don't mind a crowd.
