Bassmaster21 Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I bass fish Stockton A LOT during the summer. Two or three days a week. This summer got pretty tough. Hard to find fish and when I did they weren't very big. HOWEVER, this last spring I absolutely tore it up. Every time I went out me and a buddy could get a top 5 of 1415lbs or better. Starting to heat up again both literally and figuratively. Still not easy finding the fish but one can definitely catch a lot and several keepers if they fish hard for em. Kentucky's are really on right now. Not the biggest fish but fun to catch a lot of them. Picking those up with bright worms on rocky banks in coves. Got in to my first school of white bass surfacing last time out and pulled 6 fish in 3 casts then they were gone. Pretty exciting. Hopefully I can still get out every so often in the fall. Tough to fish around class, work, and bow season. Best of luck to all. Glad to hear some others still bass fish out there.
Flysmallie Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 One of the best times of the year for bass fishing Stockton is during deer season. If you are in the woods you are missing some quality fishing. But I know that is hard to give up for most. Â Â
powerdive Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I don't need reports to help me decide when and how to fish. Figuring it out on my own is most of the fun. Plus it keeps less people on the lake. Well said! All a report can do is offer a possible starting point...but it could also keep you from trying some things and possibly hitting the motherlode.
hknfsh Posted September 2, 2013 Author Posted September 2, 2013 Now this is what I'm talking about......finally a discussion about bass fishing. Lol. I totally agree with flysmallie in that I don't need help either....been fishing over 30 years !! But it is nice to read what someone is doing that is putting fish in the boat whether they are 1 lbs or 7. Power drive is right on......just helps sometimes when it's tough to maybe give an fellow Basser a starting point. I may not tell exactly where I caught em...but I'll be glad to share what on...color....depth...etc. Plenty of fish for all !!!!?
Flysmallie Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Yeah it's not bad to know if the fish just aren't biting or if I really suck as bad as I think! I do like the quiet of that lake though. Â Â
9LB Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 The Stockton Forum stays pretty quiet about everything. The Table Rock site is informative you can look through it and have a real good idea what your plan needs to be. I Bass Fish Stockton 12 months out of the year. When you post anyting about it all they want to hear is if your catching any crappie. This foum is like asking my grandpa how the fishing is "They are in the Lake and I was using a double breasted Flop jigger" It took til I was 11 to realze no lure existed called the Dble Breasted flop jigger. A few of you fellas have shared the wealth but this forum is full of lookers but no posters. I don't mind cuz I do not care when or where the little crappies are biting but it is always nice to hear about a hot pattern or bait.
hknfsh Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 9LB.....you share my same sentiments. I just want to spark some enthusiasm in those of us who focus more on bass in Stockton. No offense intended to those who fish for any of the other species.....there are many and they share info readily with each other. I think that's cool. I would be glad to share info with other bassers if I thought there were any...lol...cause no one posts anything. I know you all are out there. Going this weekend to camp and fish and will post my results soon as I can. Hope it can spark some interest. It's all good....we're all out there on the water for the same reason.....enjoying life and the outdoors !!! Personally.... it's my therapy. Lol.
hknfsh Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 By the way....I have 3 double breasted flop jiggers. They catch bass like crazy !!!
SmallyWally Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Got a Bass fishing question (It is becoming contagious). Was planning a yearly trip w/my dad to Stockton for the week of the 23rd. We normally stay for 10-14 days. But with this current weather pattern hanging these high temps, I don't think we're gonna wanna come down. So does anyone have an opinion on how the Bass fishing in late October-early November is? Used to come down late fall but that was a decade ago. Thanks a lot.
