I don't think they'll stop it all. Notre Dame was notorious several decades a go during Parseghian (sp?) rein for sending QB's and RB's to the bench. They didn't do it on the hit though, they did it in the pile.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Well, I missed the game, but it looks like Missouri played pretty strong. It's tough to judge anything from a game against FCS competition but at least James Franklin was throwing the ball all over the field and Henry Josey put up a ton of yards. DGB and Russel Hansborough also put up pretty good stat lines. Still, this is essentially college football's version of the preseason and it all must be taken with a grain of salt. Now the real games start next week. Toledo is not going to be a pushover, but Mizzou should be favored. Still it could easily come down to the fourth quarter, and if that happens you never know.

As for (in my opinion) the most interesting week 1 occurrence. What about Bill Snyder and K-State losing to an FCS team the season after winning the Big 12? I realize North Dakota State is an FCS powerhouse (they would almost certainly be a top-half team in the Sun Belt or Conference USA) but still that is not a good look. They are looking at going from a BCS bowl to being a real long shot to make any bowl this year. I like KSU because they are Kansas' rival, and Bill Snyder is awesome- but they might be lucky to get 3-4 wins at this point. Not many teams lose to FCS teams and have a decent season. Michigan is the only one I can think of when they lost to App. State. I guess Pitt kinda turned it around last year too after losing to Youngstown State but they were in the Big East, which gave them a lot more leeway in getting to a bowl game. Still with Snyder they are not to be counted out just yet.

Ark offense exceeded my expectations.

292 yards rushing

We looked like a totally different team.

8-4 is a possibility but we have to win a road game. Ole miss & Florida are vulnerable.

Georgia lost to a dam good team.

Mizzou surprised me a little bit. Could go 8-4

I'm reserving judgment until I see the Hawgs play a quality team. They rushed well, but they were ahead and the Cajuns D was getting tired. We'll see how they do against a throwing team like A&M, if the Hawgs get behind, they'll have to start throwing.

Agreed, ATM will be the true test of the tape, we beat them people will take notice, even if we just stay in the game it will be a victory IMO.

I do not like next years schedule one bit, trying to force a Rivalry through the media is stupid ARKANSAS v LSU is the Rivalry not Ar v Mizz that is boneheaded IMO.

Well you have LSU to blame for that, LSU never considered Arkansas to be a "rival". They want to play a Texas team. Arkansas will still play LSU every year, it just won't be on Thanksgiving weekend, and I think we'll see a good rivalry develop with MO.

It should be a fun game. Both schools will have an entertaining, competitive game on Thanksgiving weekend. That's way better than both of our Thanksgiving weekend opponents this year (A&M and LSU) both of which are massive favorites likely to beat us by several touchdowns if we don't play our best games of the year. Games against big name opponents are exciting-but winning is a lot more fun, and this one should be much more evenly matched. And especially with LSU I don't see them falling back to the pack anytime soon.

A&M I could see being a flash in the pan though. I'm not even sure I like them to win more than 8-9 games this season. Not a good sign when your defense cannot stop Rice. The Alabama game is probably going to be a beatdown of epic proportions. You can talk all day long about the Tide's defense but that offense will likely put up 50+ unless A&M improves mightily between now and Sept. 14th........Nick Saban has to be angry at A&M after last year and that will not be good for the Aggies.

I always worry about losing the games that no one talks about. How often do teams actually lose an advertised trap game? In MO the talk is Toledo and Indiana and we need to be on our A game.

I think Arkansas State is the trap game on our schedule before conference play. I wonder what the over on the Indiana/ Mizzou game will be? 80?

We played a team expected to win the sunbelt conference thats coiming off back to back bowl wins.

Sure, theyre not an SEC team but it gives you a glimpse of how good this team is right now.

We played clean, very few penalties, a couple turnovers.

I thought we looked sharp for a first game, considering most of these guys were recruited for a passing offense.

Our defense needs to improve, but theyre doing the besy they can with sub par athletes at LB.

We might have 2 of the best D-Ends in the SEC this year.

I say we looked better than a few teams picked ahead of us.

Little Johnny might not make it to Fayetteville, he might end up injured, suspeneded or arrested.

Who knows with that punk.
