Went out between the thunder boomers, 10:30 to 3:00. Semi overcast and covered up with pleasure craft that gave me no pleasure.

Marked fish suspended in tree tops at 21 feet. Trolled a reef runner knock off through those tops and managed one keeper walleye and several small bass.

My backup glasses, secured by a keeper lanyard, stayed with me.

I figure a keeper walleye on Labor Day weekend is a win.

Tomorrow's your big day, I feel it in me bones. Big fish right off the bat. Ready the net.

I can't dance like I used to.

You are a brave man, Sir! I figure it might be Wednesday before the wakes stop bouncing.

Went last night. Put in at indian point around 630. Have to laugh at the goofs at the ramp. went to a favorite football point/break. I was sitting in 30' and two casts from the bank. Here comes the knee boarder boat. No other boats close, he heads between me and the bank, right over where my casts are falling. Granted I saw him coming, looked around to see if it would be open for him to go around (it was) and started waving my hands and trying to show him to go around. He just stared and keep coming. To make things worse, the guy on the knee board seemed to know what was wrong, he dropped the rope and fell in the water before they got to me. But of course the driver had no clue, he went past me maybe 50', turned around and came right back thourgh, watching me like I was in his way the whole time. When he picked up the knee boarder, I could hear parts of the conversation and see the body language. He was getting reamed from the knee boarder. They picked up, with the knee boarder driving, he gave an appologitic wave and left. It is so frustrating, but most boaters that do the stupid things just simply dont know they are being stupid. But then again, how many stupid people know they are stupid. LOL>

I don't get it.

Nope, no sense getting peeved at 'em. Not being fishermen themselves, they have no idea.

Most people are good-hearted. Everybody's out there to have fun. If they knew, most would do whatever it takes to stay away and let us enjoy the lake in our own way.

On the other hand, Jason, you should have known that's their prime boarding water in the first place. :)

Your experience with that incident happen to a lot of us fishermen at one time or the other. I was fishing point 12 in the James this morning and had the same thing happen. These people running these boats don't know how how deep the water and what type of structure is below the boat and have no respect other boaters. How many times have you been meeting another boat and you steer to the right and they steer to the left just plain stupid. My opinion and (everyone has one) any person who is going to operate a boat needs a operator license. To obtain that license they must attend a class on boat operation and safety rules/laws and provide proof of insurance if they own a boat before being allowed to operate a boat. I have a feeling that there are people running these boats that been given a 5 minute instruction on how to run this boat and I bet that there are people who are operating a boat of age who is by law to have a certificate does not have one. Even us old guys can and will learn something on boat operation with the license process if made to do it also. Back when I bought my first boat all you had to do is buy it and you learned on your own good or bad. Come on winter fishing!!!!!

Ok off my soapbox for now, Didn't boat a keeper this morning all short fish on a old monster worm in around 20 to 25 ft. Lost (maybe keeper) on a spook in the bushes with a few rises.

Fished the millcreek tournament Friday night and three boats mine included were running within 100yards of each other when a cigarette boat going the opposite way decided it would be kosher to cut right in between us. He was probably 50yards from me head on and I had to turn sharply and power down to keep from hitting them. I threw my hands up to which all 6 passengers gave me the bird. Frustrating and unsafe!

Cigarette boat owners typically are the least mentally endowed of all boaters. I've never been flipped off by 6 people at one time. I know if wasn't funny to you at the time, but it's funny to read.
