I am either 2.7 miles from Lily's Landing on Taneycomo or 7.7 miles from State Park Marina from Sep 29 to Oct 11. I am bringing my 16' Lund ready to fish and can slip the boat at either marina. I am a Walleye, Perch,( mostly) fisherman on the Great Lakes from Michigan I have drift fished from shore once on a river for Lake Trout did quite well only with help from a local forum member who actually met me to give bait (skein made from salmon eggs and borax soap) plus a local who had three words for me "lengthen your leader." I am not a trout fisherman I learn fast though. Myrtle Beach, May this year, SLAMMED fish out of the surf with the help of local bait shop owner! I troll bottom bouncers with crawler harnesses, bottom jig, slip bobber hooks, shore or surf fish, with worms, minnows, maggots, leaches, and soft plastics when jigging. Not much casting raps, bombers, etc. I have never fly fished. I only got the fishing bug 18 months ago but man did I get the bug I am over age 50! (ok go ahead and make your jokes :have-a-nice-day: ).

Ok, lot to ask but knowing the little bit I told you all, what are the opinions which lake to fish? Table Rock seems I am accustomed to but doesn't seem to have Perch and Walleye (but what do I know correct me if I am wrong). Taneycomo seems like a lot of fun and good eats but I am a green newbie. Plus the warnings about Taneycomo when damns are open or they are generating electricity and whatever, levels up, levels down, don't throw anchors, etc. don't scare me but not knowing could lead me to trouble and perhaps I should stick to Table Rock?

I am sure this forum holds a lot of answers thought I could first narrow it down a bit then start my research. I won't be in your area after this and I am not asking you to tell me your honey hole or secrets, I assume this forum has a PM section.

Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided this green newbie!

FISH ON!

Welcome! I'm not a walleye guy so I can't offer any advice on walleye except to say they are in Table Rock in decent numbers. The Table Rock forum below has some walleye info, you may have to dig a bit, but it's enough to give you a good starting point.

I checked that out sounds like what I am accustomed to. Any votes for Taneycomo?

Tanney has many things to recommend it. Trout at the dam and on down for a while . Small-mouth, large-mouth, and sunfish down near its end. Tablerock has it all. Trout at its upper end near me (60 river miles away) plus 3 bass species walleye white bass crappie and sunfish. Enjoy!

Sorry, I've never fished it. But give the folks at Lilly's landing a call and they can help you out.

Why not fish both. Looks like you're going to be here a while.
