Quillback Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Please, no more pics of swim bait caught bass, next thing you know I'll be surfing the online stores looking for that bait, then the credit card will come out...Noooooooo!!!!!
Members CanoeBoy Posted September 4, 2013 Author Members Posted September 4, 2013 That's awesome @Blubasser! Was that a recent picture with current conditions, you should have joined the tournament.
Jason Essary Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Dont try a storm pearl 5" pre hooked swim bait. They would not work in the right conditions. Nope, would never use one. This is what I use in 3" for my A-Rigs. So easy to just take out of the pack and pop them on the wires. Look good in the water, have good colors, can get them at Wally World and are about a buck a piece which is about as cheap or cheaper than zoom swimming flukes (not counting jig/hook) plus they are pre-rigged with a decent hook unlike other swimbaits.

You two are correct. Don't use either of these, especially in Aunt's and Mill creeks. They just get tore up and you'll have to order more!

All those fish are from lakes near me in northeast Kansas. If you're willing to spend the money I would really suggest trying a Bull Shad. I fished a 5" Bull Shad on one of our local smallmouth lakes yesterday and was very happy with the results.
Members CanoeBoy Posted September 7, 2013 Author Members Posted September 7, 2013 Oh snap! Nice fish dude! Definitely going to have to pick one up. All my rods got max 8 lb test, probably going to go 12 or 15 with that thing.

Members CanoeBoy Posted September 10, 2013 Author Members Posted September 10, 2013 I did some research and found the threadfin shad to be native to the Rock. Anyone have any info on our local baitfish, size, type, etc?
