stlfisher Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Not buying your list F&F, it doesn't hold up historically. I think you'll have trouble finding A&M, Wisc, UCLA, Stanford, Iowa, Ark and VA Tech on a list of perennial leaders. Ohio State, GA, TX come to mind as misses. maybe Miami, Notre Dame, and NB. All time leaders would probably surprise you when it comes to those not on it. I agree...
ozark trout fisher Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 The (relative) decline of Boise State this season and last is kinda hard to watch. They made college football so much more exciting over the past few years. They will still likely end up in the 10 win range as they did last year. But with (depending on what happens from here with teams like BYU) no more regular season chances at a top 25 win it will be a far cry from the "are they finally gonna make it to the title game" type of seasons that we're used to. Watch out for Northern Illinois though to potentially take their place at the top of the non-BCS conferences. You could argue that they already are there for all intents and purposes. Another BCS bowl is not out of the question after beating Iowa and having a schedule they should be able to roll through. Though they didn't look great at all this weekend. Will they have a BCS resume? Well no (beating Iowa isn't what it used to be), but they didn't really last year and they still made it.
Feathers and Fins Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 I wasn't saying perennial leaders I was posting my OPINION list based off historical showings throughout the many years of different bowls and records. Pick your own list if you don't like mine I don't care, heck everyone could and soon we would see a list develop that could give the top 16 to 20. Who knowns someone might even pick Tenn lol or move the Cleveland browns down to where they belong. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Wayne SW/MO Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 You said "always in contention" and in my experience watching the show for almost 60 years, some of those rarely show up. I just think by stats those I listed as questionable are more often then not flash in the pan teams who show up when and if they get a good team. The others that could be considered real perennials generally only need a decent coach to compete for long periods of time. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
