If you get your hands on the leader it is by rules a catch, If they throw the hook with your hands on the leader i would just call it a clean release.

I don't carry a net, so I count it as a catch if I could have netted it. With trout if I can let them unhook themselves right next to me, that beats grabbing them and disturbing their slime coat, can be easy to do if you fish barbless

How I am. I don't get to bothered if a fish shakes the hook as I try and grab it, it was there, and if I had a net it WOULD have been landed.
