watermen Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Anglo American announced their pullout from a partnership with Northern Dynasty in the development of the Pebble Mine. Northern Dynasty stock has tumbled and there are doubts they have the money to move forward without the backing of a partner such as Anglo. Good news for those concerned and connected on here to the Bristol Bay watershed. This is a big hit to those that would like to see the mine developed at the detriment to this great river system.
duckydoty Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 We are still celebrating up here in Bristol Bay. Dynasty's stock dropped 45% today! Huge win for the fishing community. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
ollie Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Sounds like good news! "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Al Agnew Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 It is great news...but maybe I'm just pessimistic today, but conservation battles are never permanently won, only permanently lost. If the ore is still there, eventually the battle will have to be fought again as some other company with lots of capital and connections sees an opportunity. Still, it looks like the good guys won for now.
ness Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Yeah, having them pull out is great news, but that thing's not over yet. John
ollie Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Agreed, It will get pushed again by someone else. Victory today and battle again another day.
