stlfisher Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Broken up by an infield single with 2 outs in the 9th. That was tough to watch, but Wacha pitched great.
Quillback Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Didn't see the game, but I hate to hear about an infield single with 2 outs in the ninth to break up a no-hitter.
stlfisher Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 Yeah, it was a little chopper just over the pitcher's glove. Kozma barehanded and threw just wide to first pulling Adams off the bag. Not Kozma's fault he did everything he could and made a good play to just get the throw off. Just a bad break. Most of the Cards players looked kind of stunned. Zimmmerman even sounded a bit embarrassed that was the hit that broke it up.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 25, 2013 Root Admin Posted September 25, 2013 Wacha handled the after game interview like a veteran. He didn't seem that bummed about it. The win was more important and gave credit to his teammates in the field behind him. He's young... he'll have more chances. Hope it's with the Cards.
stlfisher Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 Yeah, Wacha handled it great....
moguy1973 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Just goes to show that professional sports can come down to a game of inches. If Wacha was 6'8" instead of 6'6" he would have fielded the ball, if Kozma was a foot closer in on the field he could have fielded it more cleanly and made a more accurate throw. It's all coulda woulda shoulda kinds of things that make games like this exciting... Great game by Wacha and the Cardinals though! -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
KCRIVERRAT Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Broke my Red-Turd hatin' heart... and yes... I'm jealous of the Card's. What a call they made on Albert... HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 25, 2013 Root Admin Posted September 25, 2013 Today.... Saaaaaa-weeeep!
moguy1973 Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Today.... Saaaaaa-weeeep! They win out against the Flubs this weekend (of which I'll be 5 rows back of the 3rd base line on Sunday), and I think we will see home field advantage for the playoffs... -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
hank franklin Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Myself and Hank Jr. was there for Wacha's gem last night. Carpenter's error and Wacha's two walks late gave the Nats one chance too many. The called third strike on Span was golden. I still had a bad feeling about Zimmermann though. Oh well, we got the win. Great game to watch. Yes, thank you Albert Pujols for the dumbest decision any player has ever made.
