Nice looking flies Lancer.  Those birds actually fish pretty good, although the wings usually die after a few fish.  Here's a pattern I've been playing with.  It uses body tubing to bulk up the craft fur then some more for the head.

That's the stuff.  The 1/4" is pretty easy to use and all you really need for trout flies.  I'm in a musky swap on another board and have been playing with the 1/2".  That stuff is a whole other animal.  Luckily even on really big flies you still mostly use 1/4" except for the very front of the fly.

Hey FlySmallie and Lancer... ever seen a cable tie fly?   Pretty cool use of non-traditional material.  Do a search on YouTube for Cable Tie Craw by Tightlinevideo.  I don't know if I like the wet fly body, but the cable tie part is something I've never seen before.

Edit... here is the link:

I then lose it on the first cast. :(

I do like the method of attaching the rattle. But the rest is too tedious for me. I need to make something quick and easy that I won't be heartbroken over hanging on the bottom or 30 feet up in a tree.

I agree with Fly. I like fishing Hada's creek crawlers but I also hate fishing them because they are tedious to tie, and losing them is a real pain. I tie and fish them because I like to fish flies I am happy with, but dammit if it doesn't hurt a little bit when a 10-15 minute fly gets hung on the bottom a couple times in a row.

Also, you bounce that off of a rock once and I think you are breaking your rattle regardless of what it's made of. not a whole lot of protection there for it.

And yes I have seen that video.
