Lancer09 Posted March 9, 2014 Author Posted March 9, 2014 I Really like this creek Crawler fly.I'll be filling my craw box with some more of these. And a few clousers and small half and half's.
ScottK Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 That Creek Crawler's got more crap on it than a Chinese buffet but I really like the looks of it. Found a video of it so I'm gonna give it a shot. Maybe after 50 or 60 attempts I'll have one that looks decent!
Lancer09 Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 It definitely has a few steps but i've fished it once and it looks great in the water, gets down really quick. I like dubbing the body more in the loop than twisting it onto to the thread and palmering a guinea feather of a contrasting color around the marabou. For the olive it was orange, I like a chart. one on the tan crawlers. I haven't epoxied any of the backs but I think it would pull them together a little better too.
Jason R. Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Been tying some of these for the basses. http://flyinthesouth.com/
Flysmallie Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Been tying some of these for the basses. Good looking fly. I have tied quite a few in that style, just need to give them more attention. Â Â
BilletHead Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Tied up a couple of damsel in distress a few days back. Took the Mrs. to a pond where we fished them. Big wind blowing from the south but the fish were stacked on the north side where the waves were hitting the bank, warmer water on that side plus I am sure the waves were stirring up food too. We caught a bunch. There was never a time when one of both of us were hooked up. Bluegill and bass. We really beat up the flys so I tied up more today. I also did some tweaking and instead of rabbit for tails and sides I used pine squirrel strips. Clear cure goo the backs too. Size #8 A couple of yesterdays fish also. Still pretty cold water so we retrieved slowly. Strip, strip, pauuuuuuuuse for a long time and they wanted to hit it sitting still, Bass ran from eight to fourteen inches and gills were all big, BilletHead "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo   If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh   " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh      "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!"
