I disagree that contacting the politicians is useless, it's pretty much a volume game, if they get lots of responses on something, they'll usually focus on that. Doesn't mean that they may get something done.

I'm in favor of a balanced budget amendment BTW.

I did a lot of research on the Constitutional Convention and believe it would be the best solution. It would scare the hell out of Washington and a 28th amendment could quickly stop the insanity that is Washington DC. The reason Article 5 is there is for exactly this situation, for the states to step in when Washington cannot or will not. It is the ultimate stop gap in the event of a tyrannical government. Our founders were very wise and put many protections for the people and options in the constitution.

That would be great. What would you put in the 28th, just a balanced budget amendment or more. I think it would have to say the penalty for not getting a budget done on time is death for everyone in congress, even so I bet every few years there would be a mass hanging on capital hill, a man can dream can't he?

No need to hang the politicians if problems can be fixed by law. But if it ever went to a revolution the first rule of revolution is kill all the politicians you want out so they can never again threaten you.

Romans did it but forgot to take out Caesars nephew and best friend and General Marcus Antony, proving never leave loose ends or they will bite you in the end.

I like it, just put failure to approve a balanced budget by May 1 will result in hanging and I'm behind it 100%.

You know a recall isn't powerful enough to make them act, I will not compromise on the hanging provision, it is like capital punishment for terrorism.

The way you insure a balanced budget is to write the alternate budget in the amendment. With some thought I'm sure a list could be included that would automatically kill programs 1 at a time until the budget was balanced. It would easy enough to start by halving foreign aid, pork, grants that don't involve work to improve Americans well being, etc.

Guys prayer is a very powerful tool and I think it's time to start praying that the leaders of this country start to make some better decisions. Sad to think that the mindset of our country has led to such drastic measures. Praying for resolution and that more people start opening their hearts to Gods will. Sad to think that a president like Obama could not only get elected but could get reelected. Phil Robertson for president! :-)
