Feathers and Fins Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 One of my hobbies is painting guns, I have done many and sold them and done a few for friends its just something I enjoy and thought I would share a few of the pictures. The process is simple Pick the colors ( I like doing 5 to 9 ) colors Next is simple grab some sticks grass or go back to kindergarten and make your own stencils For layering just start out with the darkest and work to the lightest. First coat I like to use a clear acrylic coat and then place the dark color on it. Work each coat until you are happy with the look and then treat with 4 coats of acrylic clear coat. Remember to protect the inner workings of the gun and all moving parts. Typical gun takes me about 4 days start to finish https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
jdmidwest Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Nice work. But I tend to use Spandoflage. Works like a charm, makes the gun sticky in your hands, and peels off without damaging the original finish. Or damaging the resale value of said gun. I stay away from factory camo jobs, it usually dates the gun to the period in time it was made. Camo patterns change year to year. Always fun to walk around a gun show and see some of the old factory camo jobs. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
BilletHead Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Nice job Scott, very similar to how I camo things.
