Jewel Lures Hound Dog. I carry two of them. I do still lose some baits to rocks, but very rarely to wood.

Likewise. I rarely lose a bait but when I do its usually because its in a cedar and the line is wrapped up in multiple limbs.

thanks guys I see one in my near future. I just started bass fishing recently ( cat fishing on Grand has had my attention for several years now but that has got old) and bass lures cost a lot more than a catfish setup . I think it will save money in the long run

I tried using warts because all of the talk about them. On 2 separate occasions I purchased warts and both times the warts would swim sideways on the retrieve. I guess it was just bad luck, but reluctant to purchase another because of my experiences with what I call a poorly made product.

the few times I have used crank baits I had the same problem with a couple but they were cheap no name baits. the swimming sideways did not matter much because I was throwing them a white bass busting on top and they hit the bait almost as soon as it landed.

That is not unusual, before you give up on them, did you attempt to " TUNE THEM " ?

Exactly. Usually nothing a little bend of the eyelet with some needle nose won't fix. Might take 10 adjustments to get it right but you should be able to get them to run correctly.

Most of them have to be tuned, sometimes its an easy fix, other times I want to smash them with a hammer...

But, if you can get one to hunt just right, its priceless.

Another little trick I learned from the folks @ REBEL LURES to try on the ones that you just can't get right after aligning the line tie & don't forget the hook hangers is, use a very sharp knife ( RAZOR KNIFE WORKS WELL ) to " SHAVE THE UPPER LIP EDGE " !!!!!!! Be careful & take it slow, don't take to much material just lightly shave "THE ENTIRE UPPER EDGE " front to back. Same as you would bend the line tie, runs to the right, shave the left edge, runs to the left shave the right edge. Over the years I have found " VERY FEW " that could not be tuned using this method after all else failed. If this method won't do it, remove the hooks, add a large endless ring to the line tie & give it to a buddy as an XMASS gift. Again " SLOW & EASY " should do the trick. Take a few strokes with the knife & test it, repeat till you got it. If you go to far just shave the other side of the lip. One final tip, " DO NOT " hold the knife blade flat against the bill, hold the lure level & the knife blade on an angle so you " CHAMPFER THE UPPER EDGE " of the bill.
