Feathers and Fins Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Someone once told me fishing is very tuff after a strong cold front. Perhaps he should have told the fish that. This has to have been one of my better days on the lake in some time, Wind was howling out of the Northwest guessing 15 to 20, Water temp was 73 to 75. The lake appears to be turned over as I could not find a thermocline and the algae bloom appears over as well. Fishing depth was 8 to 15 FOW. Species accounted for: 1. Walleye 2. Smallmouth 3. Kentucky 4. Black 5. Striper 6. Crappie 7. Catfish 8. Paddlefish 9. Gar 10. Perch 11. Hybrid 12 White Trolling flicker shad # 5 and #6 in Pearl White 140ft back with 10lb fluorocarbon from 2.2 to 2.9 mph. Depth was 20fow with brush in it fish were suspending above the brush until this afternoon when they moved shallow on cover in 16 to 8fow. It did not matter if you were on a Point , Secondary Point, Flat or channel, if you could find cover in 20fow there was fish on it Crappie were averaging 12'' and some to 16''. I was actually playing catch and release with crappie for most the day, Releasing crappie because you were limited is never a bad thing Anyway here are some pics from the day and some of the participants. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
wc1063 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Scott, I think you've caught them all, we stayed til 7 PM and got 3 LM, no crappie
J-Doc Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Nah......those sonar pics show a lot of crappie. He's just lucky like that. Lol! I'm going to try it myself soon this week. Need marine repair? Feathers and Fins Posted October 7, 2013 Author Posted October 7, 2013 Not sure what to tell you Wilson, I kept catching and catching wasn't hard to locate them all the sonar shots showed them as well. What bait were you susing and what speed were you going? and did you go in shallow and sweep the point like I told you? because they are definitely on it. These were checked with the Aquavu, so no doubt they were crappie. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
jolicious Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 I caught a 22"-23" Walleye out of a cedar tree top in about 30' of water on a wiggle-wart type bait Saturday morning. Gettign him in on 6lb test was fun lol!!

Gettign him in on 6lb test was fun lol!! And he threw it back. :-) Joe's a bit softy that way (nothing wrong with that btw Joe). I myself......have been turned on to the tasty flakey white meat and cannot turn down ole "Mr. Snaggletooth" if he measures 18" or over! LOL! What I used to get angry about catching (when I was strictly a "bass-guy") is now a welcome invitee into my livewell. Besides, those suckers are just fun to catch!! Fighters! Need marine repair? Members Middleton369 Posted October 7, 2013 Members Posted October 7, 2013 Had the fish begun to move up into any of the creek arms, or still primarily on the main lake areas?
Feathers and Fins Posted October 7, 2013 Author Posted October 7, 2013 Primarily main lake stuff is all I messed with. Need a few more fronts and good rain to get them going up the main creek arms though there is always some in them. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
