Hello all,

We were planning our annual camping trip to that area and are saddened to hear the campgrounds are closed. We usually camp at the pittsburgh area. My question is, are there any places you can camp that are state park area and close to the water? Any help is greatly appreciated. I know most of the lakes in that area are COE lakes so that poses a problem for us Kansas folk wanting to enjoy your beautiful lakes.

Thanks, Jim

Contact the Pomme de Terre State Park at 417-852-4291, They are open and available. You might even be able to camp in one of their new Yurts!

Thanks for the info! I appreciate it greatly. It is hard to find info on a lot of the lakes in that area, all my usual sites I visit are shutdown. Thanks again!

Thank you, I try to provide information and try my best to stay out of the debates since in my mind I don't have the right to complain about closed ramps, campgrounds etc. as I unfortunately had to give the order to do it, including the ramp that I normally launch from. Also the back pay which is likely to happen for furloughed workers. I will speak for the vast majority of us, if the decision is made to give back pay, we would much rather be working under a "deferred pay" status, meaning we would get paid when the budget gets passed than sitting at home and get a check for that. We have things that need to be done, and some are time constrained, however I also understand the laws that make that illegal. Don't like it but do realize its a fact. Believe me when I say that Gov't workers see the silliness of federal budgeting first hand and know it is absolutely crazy, and the rules that are changed routinely just make it worse.

I am glad there are people like you who would rather work than sit at home who are taking care of our lake. Even though I don't agree with the ramp closures and feel that it is just Washington throwing their weight around I know it's your job as much as you hate closing them. Keep up the good work and hope they get this settled soon.
