My baseball memories go back to Enos Slaughter in the 46 World Series and I grew up within walking distance of Sportsman's Park/ Busch Stadium but I have never seen anything like the last four games It's like Gibson Or Koufax every game. You couldn't write a better stretch of games. Wainwright in the clincher looked like a right handed Koufax and I didn't think anyone could top that............Hope things just keep getting better

Amazing in that these guys are often dead fast ball hitters and you know it's coming and still can't catch up to it.The reaction time in determining whether to swing or not is something like the time it takes to blink you eyes. Can't imagine trying to hit a 100 mph fastball after trying to hit guys in college throwing in the low 90's.

Funny story...a friend of mine has a son who was a terrific baseball player (great hitter, terrific pitcher) in high school, got college scholarship offers, lots of looks from scouts, etc. before he blew out his elbow his first year of college and the Tommy Johns surgery didn't work well enough to get him back to where he had been. (In fact, he blew out the elbow trying to up his pitch speed from around 90 into the low 90s like a scout told him he had to do.)

My friend did everything he could to help develop his son. Even bought a pitching machine and batting cage for the backyard so that the son and all his teammates could come and practice their hitting. They were all on a traveling AAU type team, and they had a game coming up against a pitcher who threw in the high 90s. So they all went to the batting cage, cranked up the pitching machine so it would throw pitches in the high 90s, and started practicing. Pretty soon they were hitting the heat pretty well.

Game came, and they couldn't hit that pitcher at all. After the game, my friend asked his son what happened.

"Geez, Dad, we knew where the pitches were coming with the machine. We never knew with that guy whether it was going to be down the middle or right at your head!"
