I had some time to come up with where I would rank the top 10 teams for BCS Football as of today.

#1 Alabama ( Last years National Champion gives them #1 status until they loose )

#2 Ohio State ( 19 straight wins puts them in a solid second )

#3 Baylor ( Here is a school that has had quality opponents and well rounded play to win)

#4 Oregon ( blowing out opponents is one thing but you need quality wins they get in only because of the wins from last year and this year)

#5 Florida State ( very well rounded team facing some true competition and getting the job done )

#6 Missouri ( 7-0 record and in control of their own destiny they still need to face a upper end SEC opponent to go higher )

#7 Northern Ill ( record moves them up over other teams who have been beat )

#8 Texas Tech ( record moves them up over other teams who have been beat )

#9 Fresno State ( record moves them up over other teams who have been beat )

#10 U- Miami ( record moves them up over other teams who have been beat )

Top ten should be based on record until one is beat a O-Loss should take precedence. The top 4 last year and this years records speak volumes to them disserving to be there. Florida edged out Missouri for 5th but I had to look at stats and Florida had the edge all be it slight.

Nearly all the so called "experts" have us moved up to the Sugar Bowl as the SEC runner up in their bowl predictions. Of course I'd prefer the NC but I could certainly live with that. A few weeks ago everyone was saying Music City Bowl or Shreveport, so that's a pretty nice step up.

Short of the NC though, I'd actually prefer the Cotton Bowl, where we could have the chance of playing a former Big 12 rival. I know it's not technically BCS, but is it really any different playing the #14 team in the Cotton Bowl than playing the #9 team in the Sugar? Plus our opponent would probably Oklahoma or Texas, either of which I think we would beat fairly easily.

Lots of football to be played. FSU has one more game, Miami and I think they will be heavily favored. AL has LSU and Auburn, Auburn is a rivalry and probably the only team that might beat "Bama, but I doubt it. OR still has Stanford and UCLA who are ranked and OSU who is another of those big rivalry games that can bite you in the end. Ohio S is probably home free, but will have to rely on others to send them any higher and they could get edged by Baylor, if they go undefeated and Mizzou if Mizzou should beat 'Bama.

Then there's the late season adjustment for overreach, Clemson for instance hasn't played anyone ranked except FSU and they got trounced, it could come back to bite FSU if they don't blow out Miami.

"Bama and OR have the schedules that are holding up for the time being. Baylor and Mizzou suffer from having teams fall hard in the polls and they are helping, sort of ironic self destruction.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I agree, but I don't think Baylor and Mizzou are all that comparable at the moment. You simply can't compare Georgia and Florida with Baylor's two best opponents (KSU and Iowa State) who are two of the weakest major conference teams in all of football, plus they still have Kansas coming up. Heck, even Vandy would presumably knock most of the Big 12 around with ease. That conference is 2012 Big Ten kinda bad. Baylor played no one in the non-conference and their best conference opponent is.......Oklahoma, who can't get by a bad Texas team? They shouldn't be a factor even at 12-0. You'd do just as well to throw Fresno State in the national title game should they go undefeated.

The Pac 12 and the ACC with Florida State are the only conferences (in my opinion) outside of the SEC that should even get a look when they are considering who is going to play for the title. The Big Ten and Big 12 are just downright bad.

But for Missouri, none of this should matter. Go 12-0, win in Atlanta, and you're in. It should be that simple.

That's true if you stay within the hype, but Georgia isn't exactly a powerhouse apparently. The only decisive victory they have had is against SC. Florida is a better team no doubt, but you can't knock the Big 10 and the Big 12 teams for losses within and turn around and say that losses within the SEC count higher. I don't care what conference you play in when you rack up the scores Baylor has they deserve respect until something changes. South Carolina has been beaten by Georgia and TN, neither of which is a powerhouse. So to compare GA, SC, and FL to the Big 12 teams and make it decisive is fantasy at this point.

Yep run the table and they're in.

I mean, Iowa State and KSU both lost to FCS (1AA) teams. That is 20% of your league right there, which is a bad sign and usually means you are on par with a mid-major conference. As shaky as some SEC teams are, it's hard to even imagine Kentucky or Vanderbilt doing that.

And don't forget Kansas which has lost to a species of grain two years in a row (Rice.) Furthermore, SEC teams do not attempt fake field goals on 4th and 13 from their own side of the field. (No, that has nothing to do with the SEC vs. Big 12 debate or BCS titles, but if Kansas is gonna set me up for something that easy I'm not gonna pass it up either.)

And yes, this is coming from someone who was upset we left the Big 12. But the behavior of UT and OU lately has been enough to sour me on the conference pretty quickly and send me wholeheartedly to the SEC bandwagon-no regrets anymore. I believe a higher up at Texas recently said that a good season at Missouri was worse than a bad one at Texas. Which is a bit hard to defend right now.

I can see it now...something bad always happens for Mizzou, and this year it's going to be that they go undefeated, beat Bama, and STILL don't make the NC game because Baylor and Ohio State are undefeated as well. Wouldn't THAT burn your toast?
