Quillback Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Got a late start today, left the launch at 0930. Started off fishing points and deep drop offs, didn't have any luck on that stuff, thought maybe with the clouds and wind there might be some bass up shallow, so I started fishing buck brush edges and timber with a jig. That pattern worked for a while, caught 7 or 8 largemouth up shallow, I think every one of them was a keeper with a couple 2 -2.5 lb. fish. That bite stopped around 1 PM, scratched out about 1/2 dozen spots on the jig in the next couple of hours and called it quits about 3 PM. Water temp 63-65. A couple of fat bass, these guys are well fed, not your typical skinny fall largemouth. Some of the coves are packed with shad.
Members Topwater TRL Posted October 27, 2013 Members Posted October 27, 2013 Nice! How was the water color? Lots of floating leafs yet? Always appreciate your timely and detailed reports! Topwater TRL
Quillback Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Water color is variable, some of the coves are stained almost to a pea green color, but the main channel is clearer. Didn't really notice any leaves in the water. Speaking of leaves, they are turning a nice color in that area. Maples are peaking, when you can spot them through the oaks. Some colorful hickory, sumac, and dogwood also.
Bill Babler Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Great color on that jig http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
fishingaddiction Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Sounds like the jig is still working. I agree with BB, that is a great color jig. Thanks for the report and pic's those chunky fish. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
