Members WOZ Posted October 29, 2013 Members Posted October 29, 2013 So, trout season is over but are the trout parks such as Meramec and Bennett Springs still open for trout? And do they continue to stock through the off season? Being a newbie to MO fishin', want to make sure I'm following the regs. podum Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Catch and Release in the Parks after Nov.1. You can keep fish in the white and red ribbon areas all year. Example: you can fish Bennett during the C&R season Fri - Mon and fish the Niangua below Bennett with the same catch and keep regs that apply all year long. Right now through the "too cold to stand it" weather is my favorite time of year. Lots of no people on the streams. I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.

Trout season applies only at the trout parks, the trout rivers are always available to fish, if you dare! Members WOZ Posted October 29, 2013 Author Members Posted October 29, 2013 Thanks for the responses guys and nice pic Oneshot! The Niangua sounds very interesting. Haven't hit the Bennett Springs area yet; been focusing on Meramec Springs since I relocated here. Thinking of going out on Saturday but that depends on weather and if my ear infection clears up a bit. Eventually, float trips on my 9 foot pontoon once I hook up with someone so we can have a vehicle at the start and end... stlfisher Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 The catch and release season starts on Friday November 8th. You wont' be able to fish the trout parks until that time, but you can fish any water out of the trout parks all year long. Meremac Springs you can fish all week long 8a-4pm. Bennett, Roaring River, and Montauk are Friday - Monday 8a-4p. All trout parks are closed until November 8th.

jpb2187 Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 The MDC Urban Trout Stocking program will begin shortly as well. You can see all of the ponds they stock in Saint Louis on their website. I personally don't have the time to make any trips to the parks/rivers right now so I am thoroughly excited about chasing after some trout right here in Saint Louis.
Members WOZ Posted November 2, 2013 Author Members Posted November 2, 2013 I'm close to Carp Lake so that will be a spot to check out. Was hoping to hit the Meramec near Bennett Springs but nursing an ear infection and don't need it getting worse. Hope to see you guys out there! Hickory Creek is white ribbon and it is winter C&R. WOZ make sure you check ALL area regulations for where you choose to fish. and stlfisher, catch and release in Missouri Starts Nov 1. not Nov 8th. if you need to check the trout (or any other regs) your first stop should always be here: http://mdc.mo.gov/fishing/regulations and here http://mdc.mo.gov/sites/default/files/resources/2011/01/2013fishsum.pdf (these handouts are free at Wal-Mart) Let the summer of Carp, begin.
