oneshot Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I usually don't fish below 64 HWY Bridge but I knew they had stocked it and it was getting ready to rain. So I decided to drive down check it out. I was using Power Bait, had too much weight on, Leaves were giving me fits. Just put on a Split Shot let it float. Was catching Rainbows but they was real small, it started raining I went back to the house. oneshot
dennis boatman Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 ...that's the way it's been...they'll grow... A strike indicator is just a bobber...
laker67 Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 as in the park, they will grow up to be 11 inch monsters
Wayne SW/MO Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 The stocking they made at Barclay were really nice fish, but I'm not sure what brought that about. The browns were really small and before the stocking I saw a lot of small fish. I turned back a 16" male, maybe he'll move to a secure location. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
XP 590 Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I wan't going to spill the beans, but since Wayne brought it up, I have had a blast lately around Barclay. I hope all the "sportsmen" that fish around there are aware of, and follow the rules regarding taking browns. Two weeks ago, I landed a 20" brown swinging a soft hackle. He was big and fat and one hell of a fight. I was hoping he was a resident from a previous stocking, but couldn't say for sure. Turned him loose to fight again.
Greasy B Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Good for you, good browns are few and far between. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
Wayne SW/MO Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 There would be more browns if they would force the knotheads to learn the difference and release them. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Yea lot of people catch Small Browns thinking they are Rainbows. You say anything the fish already has its Gills damaged and been on Stringer for awhile, so it is dead anyway. oneshot
laker67 Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 if you leave them on a stringer long enough, they change colors and are hard to distingish from any other dead and spoiled fish.
