Gavin Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 You are right Joe. Their are lots of folks that love the ONSR...follow the darn rules and pick up trash. Then there are the people that rip the place up on a regular basis. NPS...is pushing for a bit more restriction....but none of them will impede my use. I'll take A...but no motor boats above Powder Mill would be better.
hank franklin Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Alternatives? A and B? General intent? Vision? Good grief. Our government has no intent to do ANYTHING, ANYTIME, soon, to ameliorate ANY perceived problem with the ONSR. We don't want to offend the hoosiers who live there. There is no political will to influence representatives from those areas, for fear of being labeled, paradoxically, an "elitist," ( God forgive anybody who has earned the "elite" status. After all, we wouldn't someone who is "elite" flying our airplanes. Or an "elite" military group raiding a terrorist compound. Or an "elite" group of research doctors trying to find a cure for modern diseases). Yes my brothers, "elite" is a curse word in many scenarios. Instead, I think our government should decide. One can't accuse them of being elite. I really have no idea what you are talking about.
Mark Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 I don't claim to know all the laws but aren't things like unauthorized accesses, ATV use, and horses in the river already illegal on the ONSR. Maybe we just need to crack down on existing laws. I have seen a difference in behavior since the crackdown on the drunken floatillas a couple years ago. Did it eliminate them? NO but I see fewer willing to risk getting busted.
LarrySTL Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I realize that LM in reservoirs and SM in streams are different and that what works for one is not guaranteed to work for the other. But.... great big BUT kinda like this ---> (_i_) tho that would be butt. Owell..onward... Everything I read in this and similar threads here says the same things that were said 40 (?) years ago about the 15 " minimum on bass in the reservoirs, namely "people won't obey it, they will break the law, they will eat all the bass, it won't help a bit, give up its hopeless". However, it worked pretty well. If these rules result in some improvement, that would be.....ummm...duhhhh... improvement. Any side bets ( I'll take the Under on 15 minutes) before somebody posts "but that was different, and this is now, give up, its hopeless." http://intervenehere.com
