BilletHead Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Yesterday we made a run to Joplin trying to finish some holiday shopping. Decided to take the Mrs. to lunch. Hit one of those Asian buffets. Mistake! Everything tasted the same and burped up later still tasting the same:( Hit a health/ whole foods store before heading home. Kind of an oxymoron don't you think? I knew we could do a better meal with the Asian twist so today we did it. I seared tow mallard breasts to a nice rare to med. rare and sat them aside to rest. Pat had done fried rice and she had cut up celery, carrots, onion, sweet peppers, mushrooms and broccoli. I cut up some of the tabasco peppers we had grown and dehydrated. In the hot skillet went the veggies for a quick stir and heating, andante. Crispy and hot. To that we added some bottled General Tso's sauce. Ok I know from a bottle? Got it at the health food store The in went the thinly sliced duck. Now we have fully happy insides. A batch of potato rolls out of the oven so hot rolls and butter for dessert! Mitch f Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Since my wife is Chinese, there are few Chinese restaurants I'm "allowed" to take her to, and you can bet it's not a buffet. We also have the luxury of ordering off the menu in Chinese, which is usually a completely different menu and much better food. If you notice, the restaurant workers and owners don't eat what they are serving! In St. Louis, we have several Chinese food markets where we can get all kinds on stuff that you cant find at Dierbergs or Schnucks....Like live large mouth Bass!
