duckydoty Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Met up with Flatbottom Boy from the forum this morning for a hunt on Lower Taney with the layout boats. Eric and I met at Rockaway and there were at least 5 boats out already. We went down stream and set up. The 1st spot I wanted to put Eric was taken, so we trolled on down to another spot for him to set up. I kept going down about 1/2 mile below Eric in hopes of being spread out would help keep birds moving a bit longer. Lots of birds on the water at shooting time and it sounded like a war zone first thing this morning. I did a lot of missing today. I don't know what was going on, but I was a little behind them. We had lots of birds landing long and wanting to stay out in the middle but we did manage to end up with just one bird shy of 2 limits. Fun hunt and hope to get to do it again with Eric. Wayne SW/MO Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Lots of birds on the water at shooting time and it sounded like a war zone first thing this morning. I know it did just a little before 7 this morning. Sounded like a lot from above Rockaway, probably in Bull. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
jdmidwest Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 We got out this morning at Otter Slough, last one at the draw, last pick. Good ole number 296. Made it to the pool at 4 minutes after shooting time. Watched 10000 snows take off the pool next to us when the other hunters fired one shot. That was the last bird that flew our pool and we stuck it out till one. 2" rotting ice, small pool of water in front of some willows in the center of the pool. Most of the ice was still solid as long as I did not get too close to my hunting partner. Cold wind blew all morning as I sit it out kicking ice chunks around with my waders. Tough day, not much going on on the entire place. Saw several bald eagles. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson

Flatbottom Boy Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Here is that pic I took Duane. Thanks again for an outstanding morning. It's been too long since I've had a shoot like that. Look forward to a few more with you this year if we can work it out. Oh yeah...it wasn't just his shooting that sucked I won't say how many shells it took to kill six.
