post-13115-0-06754500-1387328003_thumb.jWater temp was anywhere from 40 to 47 degrees the last two days. Yesterday I caught a total of 5 in 5 hours. 2 LM and 3 spots. The LM were on jerkbaits in 15 to 20 ft. of water on 45 degree banks.. The 3 spots were on a 1 oz. war eagle white spoon in 50' of water down 20'. Both LM were a little under 16" and one spot was a little over 15".

Today was worse, I fished the White from the mouth of the kings and then down past the kings river marina and I managed only 2 non keeper spots on the white spoon. I got lucky enough to follow several gulls diving for shad and managed to find thousands of shad under me with only the 2 spots to show for it. I did throw a tube and a football jig on the steep bluffs and lost a fish on each. There's always tomorrow.

Appreciate the honest report. Winter fishing can get very tough when the water temp plunges like it has in the past week or so. Sounds like you made the best of a bad situation. Good job.

We fished the Emerald Beach Big M area for about 4hrs. yesterday PM (17th) and managed only 2 lm's. up to the boat on Jerk and 2 bites on A Rig. Both Lm's were on bluff ends, over about 8' to 12', windy and sunny. The only shad we saw were on top in small balls, thin spikes and nothing to drop a spoon on. No gull activity at all, only a bewildered looking Blue Heron. The surface temp. was 47 and 44 at the troller and got even colder as we went upsteam from Big M. It appears as it does every year as the temp. drops the shad move downstream. It was as if we were fishing water completely void of fish!. Probably need to be around Mill Cr. Kimberling Bridge area.

Any reports from down that way?

Water got too cold too fast and no warming!

Very rough day, in at Viney at 10:15 off at 2:30, total 1 (one) (zero plus one) 10 inch K. Water temp 42-45. Threw jerk baits, white and chrome spoons, spinner baits, drop shot. Found some bait but no fish with them. Wonderful to be on the lake with the nice weather. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all and good fishin. Lets all continue to buy green bananas in the new year. Duck.
