bfishn Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 It has one of the biggest submerged springs in the lake that is shallow enough to remain active. I can't dance like I used to.
Quillback Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 A popular place in it's day. Everybody just seems to be standing around looking.
bfishn Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 That picture was from the winter of '63. People were intent on getting a few last looks before it went under water. I can't dance like I used to.
Quillback Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Looks like it would make a great flathead hotel.
bfishn Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 I thought so too, but never found them at home there. The closest flatties I've found there were further out at the old stone bridge. I can't dance like I used to.
Quillback Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Darn fish, ready built luxury accommodations and they turn their nose up at it.
Members Greg W Posted December 27, 2013 Members Posted December 27, 2013 Is all of the stone work in the picture under water now?
J-Doc Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Yep. Every bit of it with current water levels. It has to get really low to see any of it above water and even then, much of it is erroded and deteriorated. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. bfishn Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 The remaining pier of the old railroad bridge has been a good winter crappie spot just out of Monte Ne. Locate the railroad cut on the east bank, just south of the HB island cut-through, and search straight out from the cut toward the mouth of Monte Ne. It's quite a ways off the railroad cut bank, but still in the original channel. It lacks a good 15-20' from reaching the surface, but easy enough to locate. The bridge itself was scrapped during WWII, but the pier remains; I can't dance like I used to.
J-Doc Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Shoot.....now I have a new spot to go locate on the structure scan. Just for the pure interest of finding it. Not for the fishing. LOL! Nice to know of a hidden spot though. Thanks! ANd nice photo too. I love the history of the lake before it was a lake. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message.
