Don't forget the old bridge at PC Marina it is just to the NE of ( B) dock about 50yrds off its east corner. I believe Doc has a good screen shot of it. There is also the old chicken coup in PC.

Here's the screenshot. It's not much. Side scan could provide a more interesting view.

The old Prairie Creek Road used to travel through here I believe and these are the remaining piers from the bridge.

Not many folks realize there were once school houses (Rocky Branch School house, just off of the East Ramp and Prairie Creek School house between the marina and Deer Island (the North island at 12 bridge). I think I read the Rocky Branch school was relocated up the hill a ways past what is now Anglers Inn.

There are lots of old foundations and things under the water. Even cemetaries. Not sure if they relocated the bodies or not. I would assume they did. There's a cemetary just south of the 12 bridge in the middle of the channel. I've idled over the spot but never observed anything. I'm pretty sure they were relocated.

The old Habberton Bridge in the upper end of Beaver was simply dropped and at least part of it left on the bottom. I remember going by it in a boat back in the late 1960s and seeing twisted re-bar sticking up just above the surface. It seems to be gone now.

I found the tomb of Coin Harvey and his son. Thought I'd post a photo. Story goes that his son died in an accident (logging or railroad, I forget which) and he buried his son near Monte Ne. When Coin Harvey died, they buried the two of them in this concrete vault. Sadly, he rests in someone's front yard. The tomb/vault is just east of the Monte Ne Ramp. You have to turn on the side road just before the road dies at the lake.

After seeing that and the disrepair of the entire area it kinda makes me mad. This is such a special place and I see how much is going in to the rest of the city but not our history. I really think the city should do something to that entire area and make it a destination worthy of Rogers and NWA.

Like build a pyramid?

I can't dance like I used to.

I'd settle for removing the graphiti off of what's left of Oklahoma Row (the building behind the chainlink fence).

Maybe errect a monument too with a bronze plaque that indicates some history about Monte Ne.

Graffiti gone would sure be a step, Monument would be nice and why not fix the ramp area up with some tables and benches that replicate whats in the amphitheater and plant some grass. The area is a Historical park looking for a place to happen.

I'd settle for a floating dock at the ramp.

Gee......you can tell I've been married for years. I "settle" all the time.... lol :=B:
