jeb Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I found the tomb of Coin Harvey and his son. Thought I'd post a photo. Story goes that his son died in an accident (logging or railroad, I forget which) and he buried his son near Monte Ne. When Coin Harvey died, they buried the two of them in this concrete vault. Sadly, he rests in someone's front yard. The tomb/vault is just east of the Monte Ne Ramp. You have to turn on the side road just before the road dies at the lake. I've driven to that tomb several times now. It is kind of odd that it seems to just be part of someone's yard. I remember thinking the first time I saw it that the Monte Ne area sure didn't place much value on their history. And seeing all the graffiti on the tower sure confirmed that. Stump bumper Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Hard to keep a history going when you have an area nobody is from. Very few old timers and family history in the area, we didn't grow as fast as NWA did in the past 14 years by having babies it is all people from out of State. I was born and raised in Arkansas but spent very little time here between 18-40 and now live on the other side of the state then my family ties. Just is not the same as areas where you live in the house your great grandfather built and your dad was born in and everyone in town can same the same sort of place. I am not saying it is right, just fact. Heck I even get questioned about my "accent" in NWA...lol It might not be Arkansas any more but if you look close you can still find traces.
Members Bass Ivy Posted February 12, 2014 Members Posted February 12, 2014 They moved alot of the graves from the areas the lake covered up across from the military Park entrance. On the south side of 62 highway. I thinks its old wire rd. there in that area is where that cemetery is.
