Fished Bennett yesterday both in zone 1 and zone 2. Caught lots of fish but in the 50 years I have been fishing Bennett I have never caught so many small trout. Wonder if this is why the tag sales were down last year.

Bssp is introducing a very select, midget strain, of rainbow trout. They are trying to take business away from some of the more popular blue ribbon trout streams. Their new multi-million dollar rearing facility allows them to raise hundreds of them. As evident of what you saw yesterday.

Yeah I think the powers that be at BSSP are onto something. If you slither along the bank on your belly with the cork of a 3wt. clutched in your teeth, and crop your photos just right it almost feels like you've accomplished something reverent.

What a special place!

I was there Friday and fished zone 1 until about 3:30. I didn't see or catch any micro-lunkers until I threw in below the spillway and immediately caught this one:

I was there on Saturday and caught a bunch of those pesky trout below the spillway on Griffiths gnats. What are they, about 3-4 inches?

Fished zone 2 Saturday. Around 20 fish all 8-10" except for 1. Anybody think there's any chance now that they've got the pools done the size might increase?

Seems to be occuring in the other 3 parks as well;not a promising scenario for those who don't live close to one of the better streams or Taney.

I went to Montauk in the August and caught 10-15 dinks. Usually try to keep a few for the skillet but felt bad keeping babies, so I let them all go.

It's gonna take about 4 years (going by standard growth rate) to put another pound on them. Hopefully after that period of time, barring any major floods or die-offs, they'll be able to maintain a replenishing population for a year or two.
