Friend of mine, Doyle Price, someone on here might know him, said that he has caught them years ago on Table Rock on a red jerkbait. Thought he was crazy, but maybe not. I consider Doyle to be a good fisherman, well, better than good.

Well guys. I went ahead and bought one. I will test it out and let you guys know how I do. Being a slow floater might be advantageous. I can take weight back off in spring and try catching some shallow fish around spawning coves. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2

I can't find a suspending model. Do you guys think that I can take a slow rising model and weigh it down to suspend or is that gonna mess with the action? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2

I put a #4 hook on the front and #6 hooks on the middle and rear hangers.

Also will use a split ring that's a couple sizes larger on the front hanger as well.

Lastly, if the lure I'm dialing in is particularly stubborn; I'll add a strip of lead tape between the mid and front hangers

Good work, jolicious. That's a lot cleaner look than wrapping solder wire around a hook.

Yeah. I have some suspend dots if I need them. I usually just add split rings to the front 2 hooks. If that doesn't work I will have to do bigger hooks. I love those outward barbs on those megabass hooks. They are nasty. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2

Dang, Champ, thank you! Hearing that from you is quite an honor! One thing I forgot to add is that I'll also use a really large (6mm) oval split ring for the line tie. Helps with keeping the head down, but also helps the lure be a little more erratic. These blanks that I buy don't always want to suspend nose down, so I've had to do some experimenting

I'm like you about wanting that nose-down attitude, jolicious. Not sure why the bass seem to like it that way but in my experience, they do.

Yes sir, I think it's something about a dying shad maybe.
