timsfly Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 We still get an occasional carp in zone 2, even see a few bass, I think they are stocked by people returning home after a day of fishing, be pretty easy to stop and throw them in off one of the bridges. We had a big catfish in zone 1 for awhile, it was finally caught, I think it weighed 8 or 9 pounds. laker67 Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 How big were they? I remember seeing some big carp in the fly zone at RR in the 80s, don't know where they came from or what became of them.Tigers were about 4 lbs each, and the muskies were 6 to 7 lbs each. Harv caught his fish on a crawdad fly that he was tying back then. I hooked up with the muskie on 7x and things went well until he ran thru the moss. He made a full body jump right in front of the guy downstream, and the guy yells, "wth was that?" It was a fun time.
countryred Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I remember seeing some big bass just above the dam back in 2010. One looked to be 4 pounds and another that might have been 6 or 7.
stlfisher Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Saw a 4lb largemouth several years ago just below the bluff hole.
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 There were some largemouth in the creek above the Bennett spring. Ed used to keep a sharp eye on it from Springview and run people off. He let my son, about 12 at the time, fish them because he knew he would release them. I have a picture somewhere of one that's probably 16-18" from the pool. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
