Okie shad aren't good enough for Razorbacks?

My guess is species and disease control....or....depletion of resources by fishing out a resource from one lake and giving to another. When done regularly and in a hi volume, that will hurt the host lake and could hurt the benefit lake if disease or species issues arose.

No clue Quill, I looked around for a reason a little last night but couldn't find anything. It will probably hurt the striper guides on Beaver and others who go to Grand to get their shad. It makes me wonder what the justification is as they have been doing it for years.

They have been talking about doing this for a few years. Idea is to keep zebra musscles out of the lake.

Making Beaver Lake safe for all the little fish...one striper at a time.

That's what I was thinking, there are some that are caught by striper guides, but there are so many shad in that lake that it's not going to put a dent in the population. Makes no sense to me.

But if you're taking shad out of the lake - how does that stop mussels from getting in? Maybe they're thinking that nets coming from out of state might have zebras attached to them? I can see them banning people from bringing shad to the lake.

Quill it doesn't !

The mussels can get in from a host of sources, Bilge tanks, bait tanks, carpeted fender walls, tire fenders and the list goes on and on.Taking the Shad out of the lake will not stop the transport of mussels in to the lake.

The Mussel argument is one im very familiar with as they have been doing their best in So-cal lakes for awhile to prevent them and the regulation are insane, lakes where even morning dew will keep you from being able to launch.

I do not see mussels as the reason or at least not a legitimate reason without many other regulation to accompany it.

The reg is no transport of SHAD FOR BAIT outside of the lakes listed, not regulations for clean boats of all water and not a wash-down of the boats after leaving the lakes. It is a regulation that is not making since to me. I never have went to grand to get bait and bring it back but I have fished grand and the shad population is insane so not sure why they care. Also it says BAIT not live transport so even cut bait would make it illegal use.

Im still looking but finding nothing.

OMG !!! I called a friend with OK and he said it was to prevent the possible transportation of CARP! Bighead and Silver Carp. They don't want them transported to other waters!

Didn't know they had bigheads or silvers in Grand??? I hope not. Especially the silvers.
